The Drumulator's sounds out of the box are cold, dead and compressed. Originating from super dry, acoustic drums, but hardened through old skool converters, the bass drum is weightless but punchy. The snare is a recognizeable classic from so many 80s and early hip hop records. The rim is dry and surprisingly realistic sounding and the clap is one of my all time favorites from any drum machine. Plus you get an 808-ish clave and linn style cowbells and hats. And with the right processing (continue reading), you can get some insanely dirty toms:

The SK-1 is a cheap and un-assuming 8-bit synthesizer and keyboard sampler from the mid 80s. It's super gritty and lo fi in almost every regard — from the frequency-squeezing mic input to the uber-funky PCM based sampler (which gives you a whopping 1.4 seconds to cram whatever idea you have into it).

Classic 12bit 80s Drum Machine Percussion
Developed in 1985, the 727 is the latin percussion version of the 707 and is the perfect add-on to any drum machine or sample collection. Like the other TR series, it has defined various genres of dance music with its instantly nostalgic congas, agogos, bongos, timbales, cabasas, whistles & more. You can find it all over early Detroit techno, 80s disco / garage, Chicago house, Aphex, Vibert, a Bushwick bodega and more.

The Fattest & Warmest 12bit Drum Sampler
Designed by Roger Linn in 1988, the MPC60 is one of the best sounding samplers of all time and, (along with the SP1200), has shaped the sound of classic 90s hip hop, R&B and house music with its unmistakeable grit, warmth and punch. And despite looking like a cash register and having a resolution of only 12bits, this sampler still sounds better than any modern equivalent boasting higher specs. Quite simply, what you put into it comes out sounding better.
